Great Advertising That Makes You Smile

So my moods have darkened somewhat, brought on by this forced recouperative mode, coupled with the fact that my my 30+ years in marketing, research and advertising have made me even more skeptical then I was previously. However, while plowing through my 200+ emails of the day, a good pal had sent me the clip of the Budweiser ad with Clydesdales having a snowball fight. I have watched this :30 about ten times today, and each time it has made me smile. I admit that making me smile these days entails either maudlin or sugary quotes, music and visuals...but heck. how can you not smile at a bunch of huge horses having a snowball fight? Better then Hillary vs. Obama vs. Huck-a-boo vs. McCain vs. Mr. Mormon vs. whozzitz from TV.....and where are those Coca-Cola polar bears?

Sitting around with a WoundVac

I'm hanging out trying to heal a large infection in an incision site (don't ask) and for the second time in the past few years, I am attached to a Wound VAC - a miraculous little machine made by a company called KCI (Kinetic Concepts - KCI - trading at around $53). This company is incredible. I had one two years ago for an incisional MRSA, now for just a stubborn staph. The machine is now smaller, with a case and shoulder strap so you carry it around like a little purse. The only problem is that it tends to 'burp' every once in a while, or yell at you if there's a leak.

The company sends the equipment and necessary supplies (everything is administered by visiting nurses) promptly and has a 24 hour phone number in case you have a problem. You know, if you're supposed to invest in something you believe in and know, this is one place to put some of my retirement money.

Politics, Politics. Iowa and New Hampshire

  • Mood:
Does anyone else feel fed-up already with the HUCK-A-AD furor today? So what if there are subliminal messages in the background of a Huckabee ad. Symbolism of religion? You have got to be a nitwit. The man is already a minister. I'd be surprised if he wasn't standing in a pulpit on an up-coming ad! Subliminal? Rudy was cheating on wife number two when he was a pi**-poor mayor of NYC. He was loved by the rich because he cleaned up the 'bad' areas of town so everything could be squeaky clean for the tourists and nice and Disney-ish. Then on 9/11 he finally had to do something and finally got on the stick. Now we have Huckabee with religion and Rudy with 9/11. Poor Fred Thompson is out in the cold on re-runs!
